  1.                      NetWare Access Server & OnLAN

  4. The following Tips apply to Access Server Version 1.2.  Novell still
  5. supports version 1.0 and version 1.01, you can buy the upgrade to version
  6. 1.2 by calling 800-346-7177.  The last PTF for version 1.0 & 1.01 can be
  7. obtained without cost by calling 800-NETWARE and asking Access Server
  8. support for FINAL.ZIP.    
  9.  
  10. NOTE: PTF274.ZIP and PTF279.ZIP can be downloaded from NOVA library 16. 
  11.  
  12. - Access Server is 1.2 is currently shipping.  We recommend that you
  13. upgrade version 1.2 to version 1.21 with PTF274.ZIP and at the same time
  14. upgrade OnLAN 1.2 with PTF279.ZIP.
  15.  
  16. - SHELL.CFG or NET.CFG configuration issues are handled by creating a text
  17. file called DVNET.CFG in the Access subdirectory. 
  18.  
  19. - If you are experiencing problems with your Access Server and you
  20. generated the software from the Network, try regenerating from a local hard
  21. drive.
  22.  
  23. - Pull all the jumpers from the WNIM+ adapter.
  24.  
  25. - Access Server does not yet support 5250 emulation. 
  26.  
  27. - For adapters that use RAM addresses verify that the QEMM line in
  28. CONFIG.SYS has excluded that range. 
  29.  
  30. - For AppleTalk connections to Access Server 1.2 please refer to appendix
  31. G-1 in the Access Server's manual. 
  32.  
  33. - Function and arrow keys for terminals connected to the Access Server must
  34. be configured using the Modterm Program. 
  35.  
  36. - The Rules of Thumb's estimate of available user RAM assumes the use of a 
  37. WNIM+ adapter, other communication adapters may result in a lower user RAM
  38. count. 
  39.  
  40. - Please disable all shadowing on the Access Server Computer
  41.  
  42. - For intialization problems, lock-ups, or application errors, please try
  43. ADDING the following switches to the end of the QEMM line in the CONFIG.SYS
  44. file:
  45.           NOSH NT NX NRH UX
  46.      Each switch to be separated by a space
  47.  
  48. - For application printing problems please install PTF274.ZIP.
  49.  
  50. - With IBM Token Ring driver version 2.62 or later recommended settings
  51. are: ROM at CC00 and RAM at C800 set to 16k size.  Then set the WNIM+
  52. software at CE00. 
  53. Once again, make sure the area from C800 to CFFF has been excluded on the
  54. QEMM line in the CONFIG.SYS 
  55.  
  56. - Access Server 1.2 only supports X.25 if Newport System's X.25 card is
  57. used.
  58.  
  59. - For OnLAN configuration requiring 7,1 and EVEN parity use PTF274.ZIP.

  61. - Access Server does not yet support DOS 5 or ODI drivers.
